Hey punks!
Well, it's been a long time. People have been asking if 3 1/2 Inch Floppy have broken up. Well, we haven't officially, but I think you can safely assume there will be no more Floppy records or gigs for a long time now. It's quite conceivable that we'll get back and do some more shit sometime, but right now Jo, Dave, and Pete are playing in The Hunchbacks (www.thehunchbacks.com) with Paul from Lashed Up, and recently baked a very tasty four-song cake in Rich Bitch Studio. Me, Sebby, the Giant and Pete are making records and playing shows as the Zatopeks (www.zatopeks.com). We're also baking cakes, so keep your ears close to the floor for both of those projects, 'cos all the Floppy punks are still around and making noise. Rachel is no longer in a band, but next year she's gonna have some more free time on her hands (in between becoming a doctor) so who knows what's gonna happen?
There's been talk about re-releasing our "Stories From Sleepless Nights" album, recorded in 2001. Maybe that will happen. Perhaps it will even be on a real record label. We'll see.
Stay tuned for more rock n' roll radio.

Happy New Year everyone!
Our next show will be a Ska against Racism benefit
at the Jailhouse in Coventry on Saturday 25 January. Not sure who else is
playing yet, but I'll post the details as I get them.
Also, the new Stardumb Records compilation featuring our song, "This Wouldn't
Have Happened To Bob Dylan" should be out in mid January. The next issue of
the Stardumb fanzine will be on the theme of this compilation and will feature
interviews with each band.

Well, we're back from our weekend at the Plymouth Punx Picnic now. Thanks to Chris for organising it all, and for letting us play. Hopefully it'll be the last gig without Will for a while as he's back from Germany soon. Sammie the Giant has done a great job filling in for him, and now he gets to rock out on guitar alongside me!
We don't actually have any gigs lined up at the moment (typical...just when the whole band is back together!), but hopefully that'll change soon. I'll update the gigs page as soon as I get some news. And just so that that page doesn't look too empty, I've listed all the gigs we've played in the past...ever! (just in case you wanted to know) I'm gonna try scan in some flyers for some of the gigs too at some point, so it'll be a veritable mine of 3 1/2 Inch Floppy information!
Guess that's it for now...see you soon

We had a lot of fun at the Apers show at the Market Tavern last week! Thanks to everyone that showed up...it was a great turnout for a Tuesday night, and to Paul Raggity and Rhys for organising it.
Our next show is on Saturday 14 September at the Plymouth Punx Picnic (we changed from the Friday). There's lots of good bands playing between Thursday and Sunday including the Bus Station Loonies, Eastfield, Gob Dylan, G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S. and Anal Beard, so it looks like a great weekend. Check the Punx Picnic site for full details

The Old Railway gig went really well. Thanks to everyone who came down to that, and to 10 Pin Bastards for agreeing to play at the last minute. I've put some photos up from the gig, so go check them out.

Well, the gig at the Brook last Tuesday was a lot of fun! Cheers to everyone that stuck around to watch us, and to RockSoc for organising it all.
We've got another gig in Birmingham next week. We're going to be playing on Wednesday 19 June at Eddies with Fallout 40 and Intention. There's drink promotions too: vodka for 50p a shot and Carlsberg for £1. It should be a good night so get yourselves down there!

Just a quick update to let you know that we have a gig next week, on Tuesday 4 June. It's at the Brook in Selly Oak. It's a 2 day event with bands on throughout both days, and we're going to be headlining on the Tuesday. Our side band, the Zatopeks will be playing the day before too.

Hey hey punkrockers. I've done a few updates to the site. There's some more photos in the photos section, and I've also added a discography page so you can see everything that we've released. And on the same subject, the Pom Pom Records compilation is out now, and I have our copies of it. It's a really good record, with some great pop-punk bands on it. If you wanna get a copy, then email me.
Also, some very exciting news: we have a gig confirmed with The Apers from Holland. It's going to be at the Market Tavern in Birmingham on 27 August. Eastfield are going to play too, so it should be a great night. Write it in your diaries now! The gig's being organised by Paul Jellybrain, and speaking of which, the new issue of Jellybrain is out now, and you should really check it out, it's a great fanzine and it's only 50p!

We played last night in Romford, Essex with Punch Puppet, Griswalds, amd Sticky-Back Spastics. It was a brilliant night of pop-punk (and a bit of ska-punk too) and all the bands were rocking. We had the Giant on vocals and he did a great job as usual. Thanks to Punch Puppet for getting us the gig, and to everyone that showed up and made it a great night.
As for other news, the Pom-Pom records compilation is, I'm assured, out next week featuring 2 of our songs along with such great bands as the 20 Belows, the Monistat 5, the Hextalls and many more.

Hi everyone. We played our first ever gig with the new line-up at XL's on Birmingham on Friday night, along with our friends Effervescent and Punch Puppet. We've been waiting to play with Punch Puppet for over a year now, ever since the gig at HQ Club in London last year was cancelled at the last minute. It was worth the wait! And I finally got to see Effervescent. Again, worth the wait. Special thanks to those bands, plus Kate, Oshy and Gordon for making the journeys to come and party with us!
Keep an eye on the site for more details on the forthcoming gig in Romford, Essex with Punch Puppet. It should be April 20th 2002, and will yet again feature Sammie *The Giant* Valens on lead vocals. I'm sorry. There's nothing I can do about that.
Today we play the Birmingham RockSoc Battle of the Bands. Should be interesting. Check out how the Zatopeks got on yesterday here.
There's been some problems with Bravenet (ie. guestbook/message board access) lately, but once this message appears I guess it will all be solved. Then I can once again fill the message board with late night gems of wisdom from that restaurant in Germany, and Squiff Nuffleheim can enthrall us with his latest tales of moose-slaughtering from Norway!
Look for new links to bands we're listening to right now, and thanks for looking at this site!

A quick update on the gig on Friday. Rotunda are no longer playing, but we've got our friends Effervescent from Nuneaton to replace them.

We've got another gig confirmed. We're playing at XLs in Birmingham on the 8th March. It's with Rotunda and Punch Puppet, who are both great bands. It should be a fun night.
I've also added some new photos, and a link to Effervescent...a great band from Nuneaton.

2 of our songs are going to be featured on a compilation by Pom Pom Records from Florida, along with some great bands like the Monistat Five, the Hextalls, the 20 Belows and others. It should be out soon, so I'll post details when I find out more.
Also we have a gig on the 8th February at the Market Tavern in Birmingham with Contempt, Lashed Up (Dave's other band) and the Crap Shags, so come and watch...it should be fun. Sam's going to be singing at this one as Will is in Germany.

First let's get this out of the way; for the last couple of months our part-time singer, Sammie "The Giant" Valens has become a permanent fixture on the Floppy landscape. He's going to play second guitar and continue to cover for me while I ponce around in Berlin drinking AFTER ELEVEN O'CLOCK and generally annoying everyone that I meet.
We're temporarily re-united out here in Birmingham and Sammie, Pete, Sebby and I are sitting around in Seb's room listening to Turtlehead's cover of "Hey Suburbia" and eating chocolate cake (no, that's not sexual innuendo). Technically, this means that everyone who will actually ever read this is already in the room as I type this. But whatever.
We've been recording four Zatopeks tracks up here. Zatopeks is our side-band, minus Dave and Jo, with The Giant on bass. Check out that website for more details and a general tragic obsession with all things from the 1950's.
I guess that Rachel is no longer an *official* member of 3 1/2 Inch Floppy. She has a life, and none of us see her all that much at the moment. You'll just have to drool over pictures of The Giant instead.
Happy Hannukah, Ramadan, Christmas, New Year, Easter or whatever you are happy about right now...

I've fixed my scanner! So now you can see lots of lovely pictures of us. I added a message board too, so I want to see some interesting discussions on important issues of the day. Or we can just carry on insulting each other...whatever...

Hey everyone, Seb here. I've finally got round to updating this site, because I've finally got a computer. I've added more links, and when I sort out my scanner, then I'll finish the pictures page too.
As for what we've been up to recently, well we played a couple of fun gigs over the summer, one with a great Spanish Ramones style band called the HoleFuckers, and then also an entertaining gig at the Plymouth Punx Picnic with loads of great bands. Since then, because Will is now in Berlin (although only temporarily) we have played with his brother Sam filling in on vocals.
We don't have any gigs confirmed as yet, but we are in the process of organising a couple of gigs for December, with Soporific from Rotterdam. I'll post the dates when they're booked. Oh, and if anyone's interested, we are interviewed in the new issue of Real Overdose, so go get yourselves a copy of that. We also have our album "Stories From Sleepless Nights" out, available from us for £5, so click on "Contact Us" to email me if you want a copy. I've added a mailing list as well, so if you want to get news on where we're playing and what we're up to (probably not very much) then sign up on the first page. And also, please sign our guestbook, just so it looks like we have friends.

Hi, and welcome to the 3½ Inch Floppy website. Don’t know how the f**k you got here, but we’re glad that you did. Basically we’re a Birmingham, UK-based six-piece punk rock band following the shining examples set by the likes of the Ramones, Screeching Weasel and The Queers. Yeah, we’re one of those “1-2-3-4!”, Chuck Taylor-wearing bands who wear the same stinky clothes for months and then whine relentlessly about their inability to get girls. The band who you leave halfway through the first song to grab a Cornish pasty at the newsagent instead. Hi.
For our history as a musical entity, who does what, who we are and where we’re going, check out the “band” section. If all goes according to plan, you’ll even be able to see photos of our ugly faces and read through the lyrics to our songs. Visit the sites of our friends and heroes via the ‘links’ page. And I know for a fact that the Mp3 section works, with three songs off the debut album “Stories from Sleepless Nights”, so, um, enjoy. E-mail Seb (his address is on the site) if you want to talk to us about records, gigs, or whatever happens to be going through your lobotomised brain. I know he’d appreciate it, because we checked e-mail at the same time today, and I saw the look of disappointment on his face when the only mail he’d received was ten thousand of those dodgy “DO YOU WANT A COCK THE SIZE OF A HORSE??????” mass send-outs from a fictional Yugoslavian address.
Thank you to Seb’s cousin Laurence for setting this site up for us. I’ll try to update this thing whenever new stuff happens, or whenever I’m bored, which is frequently, so… well, stay tuned, kiddies.
